Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 Departure for Lisbon

The adventure begins: we take off from Miami bound for picturesque Lisbon. Prefer to leave from another city? Ask us for the fare. We recommend getting to the airport at least 4 hours before your flight so the trip starts stress-free.

Day 2 Lisbon

Welcome to Lisbon! When you arrive in Portugal's charming capital, a representative meets you and takes you to the hotel. The rest of the day is perfect for a first look around: wander the Alfama district, take in the views from its lookouts and try the traditional pastel de nata.

Day 3 Lisbon

In the morning, a full panoramic tour of Lisbon, the city of seven hills, with its history-filled lanes, colorful azulejo tiles, saudade and Atlantic light, plus a stop in Belém, where Portugal's great 15th-century navigators set sail. The afternoon is free to head up to the lively Bairro Alto and its viewpoint or, if you like, take the optional excursion to Sintra, Cascais and Estoril. In the evening we bring you back to the hotel from Restauradores Square, buzzing with bars and cafés.

Day 4 Lisbon – Cáceres – Madrid

We leave early across the Alentejo, with a coffee stop in Estremoz, a town with a medieval castle and cobbled streets that feels like Portugal at its most authentic. Once in Spain, you'll have time in Cáceres for lunch and a stroll through its historic center, one of the best-preserved medieval and Renaissance ensembles in the world. We reach Madrid at the end of the day and take you to the lively Plaza Mayor, lined with restaurants.

Day 5 Madrid

In the morning we discover Madrid on a panoramic tour of its landmark monuments, grand avenues, fountains and historic squares. The afternoon is free to enjoy at your own pace. If you like, your guide can arrange a visit to magical Toledo or an evening flamenco show.

Day 6 Madrid – San Sebastián – Bordeaux

We travel through Castile to the Basque Country. In San Sebastián we stroll the iconic La Concha beach and enjoy a glass of wine in its charming old town. Then we cross into France and reach Bordeaux in the late afternoon, just in time for a walk through the city center.

Day 7 Bordeaux – Chambord – Paris

We cross wine and cognac country toward the Loire to visit Chambord, one of the most spectacular châteaux in the Loire Valley (entry to the grounds included). We continue to Paris, arriving in mid-afternoon.

Day 8 Paris

Your Paris adventure starts with a transfer to the Palace of Versailles, where you can stroll its beautiful gardens or tour the interior if you wish (entry not included). Next we head to bohemian Montmartre, with its open-air artists and little restaurants, and after lunch we take a panoramic tour of Paris with a local guide. In the evening, you can catch a variety show if you like.

Day 9 Paris: free day

A free day to enjoy Paris at your own pace. If you like, take the optional boat ride on the Seine combined with a visit to the Latin Quarter, one of the city's most historic and atmospheric neighborhoods.

Day 10 Heading home

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport for your flight home. We return with three countries in our suitcases and Paris in our hearts.

Good to know

  • You'll need a passport valid for at least 6 to 9 months after your return date, with at least two blank pages; send us a copy when you book.
  • You'll stay at the planned hotels or others of the same category. Hotel ratings in Europe don't follow US standards: rooms tend to be smaller, and many hotels are in historic or older buildings in outlying areas.
  • A triple room is usually a double with an extra bed (rollaway or sofa bed), so we don't recommend it for three adults, and it's subject to availability.
  • Prices for children aged 0 to 15: ask us.
  • The order of visits, and even some cities, may change to keep the tour running smoothly.

Easy booking, pay at your pace
