Day-by-day itinerary

The order of visits may vary by departure; download your date's PDF for the exact itinerary.

Day 1 Departure for Madrid

The adventure begins: we take off from Miami bound for magical Madrid (on the New Year's departure, the flight leaves from Orlando). Prefer to leave from another city? Ask us for the fare. We recommend getting to the airport at least 4 hours before your flight so the trip starts stress-free.

Day 2 Madrid

Welcome to Madrid! When you arrive in Spain's vibrant capital, a representative meets you and takes you to the hotel. In the afternoon, a panoramic tour shows you the city's great treasures, and after dark we take you to the charming Plaza Mayor, where you can enjoy dinner and good wine at a traditional mesón.

Day 3 Madrid – Toledo – Madrid

Today we head to Toledo, a city suspended in time, with medieval lanes, legends of Christians, Jews and Muslims, and views over the Tagus River. The afternoon is free to keep enjoying Madrid. In the evening, if you like, you can feel the passion of Andalusia at an optional flamenco show.

Day 4 Madrid – Granada

We head south across La Mancha to Puerto Lápice, the village that recalls the adventures of Don Quixote. In Granada, a traditional lunch is included. In the afternoon, a guided visit reveals the Alhambra and the Generalife gardens, a jewel of artistic detail, lush gardens and spectacular views over the city.

Day 5 Granada – Nerja – Málaga – Ronda – Seville

We leave the Sierra Nevada behind and follow the Mediterranean along the Costa Tropical, whose mild year-round climate grows guavas, mangoes and avocados, and which was once sugarcane country. We stop in Nerja, famous for its cliffs, and in Málaga, capital of the Costa del Sol, with free time for lunch and a stroll through its historic center. In the afternoon we cross the mountains to Ronda, the white village split in two by its gorge, and reach Seville in the late afternoon, with dinner included at the hotel.

Day 6 Seville

In the morning, an included panoramic tour of Seville: the cathedral and its famous Giralda tower, the banks of the Guadalquivir and the Santa Cruz and Triana neighborhoods. Then we enjoy an included boat ride on the river. On the New Year's departure, that evening we take you to a renowned Seville restaurant for a New Year's Eve dinner with a flamenco show, live band, party favors and drinks included.

Day 7 Seville – Córdoba – Consuegra – Madrid

We follow the fertile Guadalquivir valley to Córdoba, capital of the Caliphate in its golden age, where a local guide shows us the magnificent Mosque-Cathedral (entry included) and the Jewish quarter, with its narrow streets and flower-filled patios. After lunch we stop in Consuegra, where twelve giant windmills and a castle overlook the plains of La Mancha, and visit the Rucio Mill. In the afternoon we return to Madrid.

Day 8 Heading home

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport for your flight home. We return with suitcases full of Andalusian sunshine, flamenco and memories that last.

Not included

  • Tips for the guide and driver
  • Porters
  • Drinks (except water by the pitcher at dinner)
  • Meals not listed in the itinerary
  • Personal expenses and additional transfers

Optional

  • Evening flamenco show (in Madrid, or at a tablao in Seville on the November departure); ask us for the price

Good to know

  • The November departure is land-only and follows a different route: it doesn't include the Toledo trip, the Madrid panoramic tour or the Plaza Mayor transfer. Day 2 is free in Madrid, the drive to Granada is on day 3, an optional flamenco tablao is offered in Seville and day 7 is free in Madrid before heading home.
  • The New Year's departure with flights leaves from Orlando; the March departure leaves from Miami.
  • To guarantee entry to the Alhambra, your passport must be sent when the group is confirmed. If there's no availability at booking, the Royal Alcázar of Seville, a similar site, is visited instead.
  • You'll need a passport valid for at least 6 to 9 months after your return date, with at least two blank pages; send us a copy when you book.
  • You'll stay at the planned hotels or others of the same category. Hotel ratings in Spain don't follow US standards: rooms tend to be smaller, and many hotels are in historic or older buildings in outlying areas.
  • A triple room is usually a double with an extra bed (rollaway or sofa bed), so we don't recommend it for three adults, and it's subject to availability. The New Year's departure has no published triple rate.
  • On the New Year's departure the children's rate applies only to infants aged 0 to 1.99; for the November and March departures, ask us about prices for children aged 0 to 15.
  • The order of visits, and even some cities, may change to keep the tour running smoothly.
