Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 Departure for Rome

An incredible trip begins: we take off from Miami on a nonstop flight bound for charming Rome. Prefer to leave from another city? Ask us for the fare. We recommend getting to the airport at least 4 hours before your flight so the trip starts stress-free.

Day 2 Rome

Welcome to Rome! When you arrive in Italy's majestic capital, a representative meets you and takes you to the hotel. The rest of the day is perfect for getting swept up in the city, with its illuminated monuments and history around every corner. In the evening we gather for the welcome dinner.

Day 3 Rome – Florence

We cross the Apennines through lovely scenery to Florence, heading straight to the Michelangelo viewpoint and its stunning view of the city. We walk down to the historic center and, after some time for lunch, enjoy a guided walking tour with a local guide: the Gothic cathedral (the Duomo), the Ponte Vecchio with its goldsmiths' shops and Piazza della Signoria. The afternoon is free in this true open-air museum.

Day 4 Florence – Pisa – Sestri Levante – Monte Carlo – Nice

We head to Pisa to admire its monumental square and the famous Leaning Tower. We continue along the Italian Riviera, a stretch of extraordinary beauty, to Sestri Levante, a charming seaside town with time for lunch and a stroll. Now on the French Riviera, we reach Monte Carlo in the mid-afternoon, where you can see its historic Casino, and continue to Nice, arriving around 8:00 p.m.

Day 5 Nice – Monaco – Genoa – Venice

After breakfast, a short panoramic coach tour of Nice, capital of the French Riviera: the Promenade des Anglais, Place Masséna and its lovely old port. On the way we stop at Fragonard, where they explain how perfume is traditionally made, and spend time in the Principality of Monaco, famous for its clifftop setting above the sea, the Prince's Palace, the Casino and its glamour. We continue along the Italian Riviera, where the Alps meet the Mediterranean, and reach Venice at the end of the day, staying in the Mestre area.

Day 6 Venice: New Year's Eve

In the morning we take you by boat to the St. Mark's area of a city built on more than 100 islands linked by more than 400 bridges, and explore it on foot with a local guide. Then you have free time to get ready, because tonight we see out the year with the included New Year's Eve dinner.

Day 7 Venice – Ravenna – Assisi – Rome

Following the Venetian lagoon, we reach Ravenna, where you can see the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia and the Basilica of San Vitale. Then we cross the Apennines to Assisi to visit the Basilica of St. Francis with a Franciscan friar or a local guide. We arrive in Rome at the end of the day.

Day 8 Rome and the Vatican

In the morning, a three-hour guided tour combines a walk through Imperial Rome with a bus ride: the Arch of Constantine, the outside of the Colosseum, the Imperial Forums, the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, Santa Maria Maggiore, the Pyramid of Cestius and Castel Sant'Angelo. The tour ends around 11:00 a.m. in Vatican City, where your guide offers an optional visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. At the end of the day we take you to the popular Trastevere neighborhood, with its small restaurants and lively atmosphere, returning to the hotel around 8:30 p.m.

Day 9 Rome: free day

A free day to keep enjoying Rome, the Eternal City, which amazes with its history around every corner. It's the perfect time to revisit your favorite spots or discover new ones at your own pace.

Day 10 Heading home

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport for your flight home. We start the year with suitcases full of memories of Italy, the French Riviera and Monaco.

Good to know

  • You'll need a passport valid for at least 6 to 9 months after your return date, with at least two blank pages; send us a copy when you book.
  • You'll stay at the planned hotels or others of the same category. Hotel ratings in Europe don't follow US standards: rooms tend to be smaller, and many hotels are in historic or older buildings in outlying areas.
  • A triple room is usually a double with an extra bed (rollaway or sofa bed), so we don't recommend it for three adults, and it's subject to availability.
  • Prices for children aged 0 to 15: ask us.
  • The order of visits, and even some cities, may change to keep the tour running smoothly.
