Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 Departure for Tokyo

The great Asian adventure begins: we take off from Miami bound for fascinating Tokyo. Prefer to leave from another city? Ask us for the fare. We recommend getting to the airport at least 4 hours before your flight so the trip starts stress-free.

Day 2 Connecting city

We land in the connecting city and board our onward flight to Tokyo. Get some rest: three countries in twenty days are waiting.

Day 3 Tokyo

In Tokyo a Spanish-speaking representative meets you and we head to the hotel by private coach, catching our first views of Japan's vibrant capital. We help you through check-in so you can settle in and rest after the journey.

Day 4 Tokyo

A full day of Tokyo's icons with a Spanish-speaking guide and private coach. We start in Asakusa, with historic Senso-ji Temple and Nakamise Street, and ride up the Tokyo Skytree to the Tembo Deck to see the city from one of the world's tallest towers. In the afternoon we cross bustling Shibuya Crossing and say hello to Hachiko, the statue that stands for loyalty.

Day 5 Tokyo: free day

A free day to explore Tokyo at your own pace, shop or dive into its food scene. If you prefer, take the optional full-day trip to Mount Fuji: Arakurayama Sengen Shrine and the Chureito Pagoda, Lake Kawaguchiko and Oishi Park, and Oshino Hakkai village, with its crystal-clear ponds fed by Fuji's snowmelt.

Day 6 Tokyo – Kyoto

We send your luggage straight to Kyoto so you travel with just a carry-on, and board the Shinkansen bullet train. In Kyoto we visit Kiyomizudera Temple, with its famous wooden stage, and stroll the traditional lanes of Sannen-zaka and Ninen-zaka. We take part in a traditional tea ceremony and finish in Gion, the historic geisha district.

Day 7 Kyoto: free day

A full free day to discover Kyoto your way: its temples and shrines, its traditional neighborhoods, its markets or its celebrated cuisine.

Day 8 Kyoto – Nara – Osaka

We head to Nara, Japan's first permanent capital, to walk its park among hundreds of deer and enter Todai-ji Temple, home to one of the country's largest bronze Buddhas. Then on to Osaka to taste its food culture on a tour of Dotonbori and Shinsekai, famous for street food and atmosphere.

Day 9 Osaka – Seoul

Transfer to the airport for the included flight to South Korea. In Seoul your Spanish-speaking guide meets you and takes you to the hotel; the rest of the day is free to rest or start exploring.

Day 10 Seoul: free day

A free day to explore Seoul at your own pace. Alternatively, take the optional 8-to-9-hour trip to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ): Imjingak Park and the Freedom Bridge, the Third Infiltration Tunnel, the Dora Observatory, where you can see North Korea when the weather allows, and Unification Village.

Day 11 Seoul – Busan

We send your luggage to Busan (one piece per person) and spend half a day touring Seoul: Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest of the Joseon dynasty, the National Folk Museum and Bukchon Hanok Village, with its traditional Korean houses. In the afternoon we board the KTX high-speed train to Busan.

Day 12 Busan

A full day in Busan: we start at Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, perched above the sea, and ride along the coast on the Haeundae Beach Train (Blue Line). After lunch we explore Gukje Market and BIFF Square, and finish at Gamcheon Culture Village with its colorful houses and murals.

Day 13 Busan – Beijing

Transfer to the airport for the included flight to Beijing. Our guide meets you and takes you to the hotel in China's capital, one of the most important historic cities in the world.

Day 14 Beijing

We start at Tiananmen Square and walk to the Forbidden City, the largest imperial palace, with its red walls and golden roofs. Next is the Temple of Heaven, where Ming and Qing emperors worshipped the heavens, followed by a visit to a traditional Chinese medicine hospital.

Day 15 Beijing: the Great Wall

We climb the Great Wall at Juyongguan, a feat of engineering more than 2,000 years old, and stop at a jade factory. We take photos of the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube and finish at the Summer Palace, where the imperial family escaped the heat.

Day 16 Beijing – Xi'an

We take the high-speed train to Xi'an. On arrival we stroll through the Muslim Quarter, home to about ten mosques, including the famous Great Mosque.

Day 17 Xi'an: the Terracotta Warriors

We visit the Terracotta Warriors, one of the great archaeological finds of the 20th century: thousands of clay soldiers and horses, each with a different face, guarding the first emperor's tomb for more than two thousand years. We stop at a ceramics workshop and head back into the city to see the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. In the evening, optional: a Tang dynasty show with a dumpling banquet.

Day 18 Xi'an – Shanghai

We fly to Shanghai and walk Nanjing Road and the Bund for the city's most modern views. In the evening, optional: a Huangpu River cruise to see both banks lit up.

Day 19 Shanghai

We visit the Shanghai Museum, with ancient Chinese bronzes, porcelain, calligraphy and painting, and Yu Garden, with its pavilions, ponds and nearby bazaars. We stop at a silk factory before heading back to the hotel; if you like, take the optional trip up to the Shanghai Tower observation deck.

Good to know

  • To process the China visa we need, at least 35 days before departure, a color copy of your passport in PDF and a recent color passport-style photo in JPG (at least 2 inches) on a white background; photos cropped from the passport page aren't accepted.
  • Passports from Venezuela, Colombia and Panama can't use this visa service and must apply for the visa on their own.
  • Hotel categories in Asia don't follow U.S. standards: rooms tend to be smaller and many hotels are in older buildings or outlying areas. You'll stay at the planned hotels or others of the same category.
  • You'll need a passport valid for at least 6 to 9 months after your return date, with at least two blank pages.
  • A triple room is usually a double with an extra bed (rollaway or sofa bed), so we don't recommend it for three adults; it's subject to availability. At some hotels a twin room may be a small bed plus a rollaway.
  • Children's prices (ages 0 to 15): just ask us.
